Two St. Louis-based companies are among the nation’s very best when it comes to workplace diversity, according to new rankings from Fortune and Great Place to Work.
World Wide Technology came in at No. 7 on the list while Build-A-Bear Workshop appeared two spots lower at No. 9. Monsanto also ranked No. 30 on the list of 100.

At World Wide Technology, a global systems integrator with more than $7 billion in annual revenue, women make up 30 percent of the workforce, with 9 percent of the staff being African-American and 6 percent Asian. According to the Great Places to Work review, based on more than 1,100 employee surveys, perks and programs include onsite family health center, tread-desk workstations, a day off to volunteer, and telecommuting options.

At Build-A-Bear, 34 percent of its workforce is minority — 16 percent Hispanic or Latino, 10 percent African-American, and 5 percent two or more races. Almost 90 percent of its workforce are women, with more than half of them in executive roles.
Monsanto, meanwhile, had 22 percent of its workforce minority, including 11 percent Asian and 32 percent women.
