Scheduled for Feb. 23, 2016, the wt2 Conference is expected to host more than 300 industry professionals, students, and members of the community, and will offer a wide breadth and depth of content targeted at a variety of roles and levels — from new career to senior level, more technical to more support roles.
During the event, attendees will discuss how to tackle the lack of gender diversity in the technology industry, while creating visibility for the next generation of female technology leaders. The wt2 Conference will showcase inspiring role models and foster community building in Silicon Valley for women in technology. Speakers will include Arianna Huffington, chair, president, and editor-in-chief of the Huffington Post Media Group, who will deliver the opening keynote; and Mary Lou Jepsen, executive director of engineering at Facebook and the head of display technologies at Oculus will deliver the closing keynote. Additional breakout sessions will feature the most relevant speakers and topics for women working in technology. Sessions are specifically tailored based on work experience, technical background and interests to include:
“Women continue to be under-represented in the tech sector,” said Betsy Sutter, corporate senior vice president and chief people officer, VMware. “Internally at VMware we are focused on creating an inclusive culture that will support the community of our innovative, women technologists. We are doing this by driving change as a business strategy with business leaders. But we also believe that providing the necessary resources and networks is a critical step in shifting the pendulum to empower all women. By founding wt2, we are extending our changing culture to the wider community and aim to transform the industry as a whole.”
