Diversity – it’s a hot topic for the tech industry, especially in Alberta. AccelerateAB, Alberta’s flagship technology event, will showcase both diversity and diversification in Edmonton on April 27. The annual event gives Alberta’s tech players a chance to gather and meet the up-and-comers in the province’s startup community.

This week in San Francisco, CPJ's Technology and Advocacy teams will participate in RightsCon 2016, an annual conference focusing on human rights and technology. Organized by digital rights group Access Now, RightsCon is one of the most important regular gatherings on technology policy, and the conference has been the site of effective discussions around issues that affect journalists and journalism. We expect this year to be no different.

Last week, we added two new topics to the taxonomy we use to group content on diginomica. One of the new topics is exactly what you’d expect a tech media site to cover — it defines a category of enterprise software. The other is, from one point of view, nothing to do with technology — it’s about how people treat other people.
