The one-day event on March 13th will take place at Galvanize’s New Tech Campus in Downtown Austin in partnership with the Clinton Foundation’s No Ceilings: The Full Participation Project and Tech Inclusion.
Galvanize, in partnership with leading tech, social good, and non-profit organizations including No Ceilings: The Full Participation Project, an initiative of the Clinton Foundation, and Tech Inclusion, will host the first-ever Tech Inclusion: Austin on March 13, 2016. The event will be held at the new Galvanize Austin – 2nd Street District campus located at 118 Neuces St. from 9am – 7:30pm.
Tech Inclusion: Austin will feature solutions-focused programming, including speakers from Booz Allen Hamilton, Atlassian and Mattermark, on providing more opportunities in tech for women, underrepresented minorities, people who identify as LGBTQIA, veterans, and people with disabilities. The event will culminate with a networking event where local entrepreneurs and technical talent will be able to meet with leaders from tech organizations, policymakers, and tech media.
“Technology can be a catalyst for change in America and we need to provide all citizens with opportunity and access to not just experience technology but be part of it,” said Jim Deters, CEO and Co-founder of Galvanize. “Our company culture is open and inclusive — as all opportunities should be. More than that, we want to raise awareness of the truth that everyone should be able to build a tech future if that’s what they want to do.”
“No Ceilings is excited to collaborate with Galvanize and Tech Inclusion as part of our efforts to advance and inspire the full participation of girls and women here in the U.S. and globally,” said Terri McCullough, Director of No Ceilings: The Full Participation Project. “We look forward to joining a robust discussion and career mentoring opportunities to catalyze action and advance women’s leadership in the tech sector.”
More than 25 speakers and 1,000 attendees are expected to participate in sessions on creating more inclusive cultures, eliminating unconscious biases, and more. This new event in Austin is part of Galvanize’s programming to mark the opening of their first campus in Texas in Austin’s 2nd Street District.
“2015 was a building year for diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, where we started to hold each other accountable. The next step is harder: real, cultural change,” said Melinda Briana Epler, CEO of Change Catalyst, the creators of Tech Inclusion. “This SXSW event is a great collaboration that will bring together national voices and perspectives to discuss what else it will take to create true inclusion in tech.”
This is Galvanize’s second time hosting a Tech Inclusion conference. The first sold-out event at Galvanize’s San Francisco campus had nearly 500 attendees, over 100 speakers, and more than 60 volunteers.
Registration for Tech Inclusion: Austin on March 13, 2016 is now open at: galvanize.com/inclusion. Employers, job seekers, and anyone who wants to learn from leading organizations about how to create a more inclusive culture in tech is encouraged to attend.
